HTM Peenemünde / Golm Memorial

The importance of Peenemünde in World War II is often qualified in a historical context. For a week, students from various European border regions studied to what extent this place played a major role in the war. They related their results to the present day. In doing so, they drew on their own experiences and worked together on historic materials to make these experiences accessible for other students.

Golm Memorial

Before World War II, Golm was a popular excursion destination for locals and travellers alike.

Since 12th March 1945, this historic site has instead been known as a mass grave for thousands of civilians and soldiers who died during the bombing of Świnoujście.

Following the city’s reconstruction, initiated by the German War Graves Commission, Golm now serves as a meeting place for people from all over the world.

The Golm app offers a media tour and visitors can use it to download biographies, historical background information and other practical tips.
